Chapter Five Overview – Animal Fur Generates Static Electricity

Animals were sacred to the ancient Egyptians, especially felines. Stroking fur, particularly cat fur, generates a large amount of static electricity. Ordinary household cats were revered by the Egyptians and there are puzzling images of small cats tied beneath chairs during depicted scenes or procedures. It seems that the ancient Egyptians understood how to harmonize positive and negatively charged forms of static electricity for beneficial purposes.
